Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of unfold, an iOS app. By downloading or using unfold, you agree to these terms. How the app handles data is described in the Privacy Policy.

1. The Service

unfold replays workouts recorded in Apple Health as a cinematic replay over a 3D map.

unfold does not record workouts. It reads workouts that other apps or devices have saved to Apple Health.

unfold requires no account and no sign-up. The service is currently free of charge and contains no in-app purchases. If paid features are ever introduced, they will be announced separately.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use unfold, or older if the laws of your country set a higher minimum age.

3. Your Health Data

unfold accesses Apple Health only with your permission, and only to read. The app never writes to, modifies, or deletes your Health data.

Health, workout, location, and route data are processed on your device and are never transmitted to a server.

You can revoke Health access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.

4. Third-Party Services

unfold depends on the following services, each governed by its own terms:

5. Acceptable Use

When using unfold, you agree not to:

  • interfere with the normal operation of the service, for example by sending abnormal or automated bulk requests to its endpoints;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app, except to the extent applicable law permits it;
  • use the service for any unlawful purpose.

6. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it is complete, accurate, or reliable.

Replays, routes, elevation, and metrics are derived from data recorded in Apple Health and are for reference only. Their accuracy depends on the device or app that recorded the original workout.

unfold is not a medical device and provides no medical advice.

Outdoor activity is undertaken at your own judgment and risk.

7. Availability and Liability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the service, with advance notice where reasonably possible. Temporary interruptions may occur — for maintenance, force majeure, or outages of third-party services.

We are not liable for interruptions caused by failures of third-party services. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

8. Legacy unfold 1.x

Versions of unfold before 2.0 offered accounts, course editing, and sharing backed by a server. Those features are retired, and the 1.x backend will be shut down approximately one month after the 2.0 release.

Until August 31, 2026, if you created courses in unfold 1.x, you can email [email protected] for a copy of your data, delivered as GPX/GeoJSON files. Requests are matched to the email address of your 1.x account.

9. Apple App Store

These terms supplement Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), which applies to apps downloaded from the App Store.

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may amend these terms within the bounds of applicable law. Amendments are announced on this page at least 7 days before they take effect. If you do not agree to an amendment, you may stop using the service; continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
